OBEKI DIVERSIFIES ITS BUSINESS UNIT BY SETTING ITSELF UP AS AN INDUSTRIAL GROUP
The firm Obeki, specialising in the design and production of rotary electric machinery, has diversified its operations following its re-arrangement into an industrial group, comprising five business units: Obeki Electric Machines, Obeki Drive Systems, Obeki Electromechanical, Obeki Innobe and Obeki General Services..
The re-arrangement of the business unit has been undertaken in order to uphold the quality of service for the various target sectors, amongst which are the following: steel, ship building, wind power, lifting equipment, construction and machine tools. Given the huge growth the company is experiencing, in response to the extensive sales network created both in Europe and in countries in South and Central America, Obeki's senior management has explained that it has re-sited its work centre in new premises on the Apatta Erreka industrial estate, located in the town of Ibarra in the province of Guipúzcoa.
By taking this step, the firm has tripled its surface area by availing itself of an industrial building covering 7,200 square metres. This space is deemed sufficient to cater for the growth forecasts contemplated in the Group's strategic plan. According to figures provided by Obeki, with a current turnover of 8 million euros, its business volume will jump to 12 million euros in 2009.
In order to reach this target, the firm has drawn up a EURO6m investment plan, part of which has been earmarked for the building of the new facilities, the introduction of automatic painting and assembly lines, whereas other sums will be paid out over the next three years for the acquisition of machinery for production processes and metrology devices.
Through this provisioning of equipment, the Obeki Group will cater for demand in the international market by exporting to France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Cuba, amongst other countries.
